Introduction:
The
concept of party at the hump, has been part of the spirit of those here now and
in the past. Everyone views us as follows; Camp Humphreys, Camp Swampy, and in
the woods, why would you ask? Because USAG-Humphreys has always been the best
kept secret in the USFK.
In the old days, folk use to be able to go duck hunting on the
air field. The village believe it or not use to have more than 30 clubs in it,
and were always full. Times have changed, and through the resourcefulness of a
few we have continued to have a good time at the old Gate Way Club, which we
call Pappy’s Place, named after a very dear person to the folks who knew him
here
at Humphreys. What makes us
different, you would ask? We do things to keep us busy and for enjoyment. With
the help over the years from outstanding managers of the club system like Larry
G.,
Michael R., and the present and awesome Chef Cade (Walt) we throw some out of this
world parties in the club.
To name a few of the really large ones; Glen P. going away
party, the Gary J. birthday party, the Reggie C. birthday party. And
recently the Super bowl Breakfast party.
We also throw cooking event like the following: Prime Rib
night, Steamship Round Night, and lets not talk about the Roasted Pig night.
Then there are those weekends when we fire up the grills and do ribs the likes
never experienced in Korea before. Whose invited, you would ask? Anybody who has
the energy to bring the butts down and join us having the time of our lives. So
when people say what’s happening at the Hump! You gotta visit to find out,
because we are not going out to find you! And oh by the way, during the
winter months we serve Oysters on the half shell, that will freak you
out. The Hump, this is where the happenings are and will be in the
future!
